My first earthquake

Despite having been through a million earthquake drills as a student & school teacher, I was literally frozen with uncertainty as what to do today. I initially thought the upstairs neighbors were moving furniture or something. However it quickly became evident that I was in the midst of an earthquake. Although it only lasted seconds, it felt like FOREVER! In Long Beach, we were about 24 miles from the earthquake epicenter, where it measured 5.4. Oh ya...did I mentioned that it really freaked me out?

A man behind me at Trader Joes this afternoon informed me that my child will be intelligent since she's now felt an earthquake. Ever heard of that one before? I love the random facts & old wives tales you hear from everyone while pregnant.
