{My Story} Chapter 2

During my visit to Seattle, we visited Phinney Ridge and the home to the Starbucks I use to work at. It brought back so many memories! It was actually one of the best jobs I ever had...in terms of part time jobs. I definitely learned the art of coffee in the city that knows best (and for the record, I can still not find a good latte in SoCal). It was my senior year of college and I was in a mad rush to finish my last year and move on to the next chapter of my life. In the meantime, my coworkers became my roommates and later one my boyfriend. I have such fond memories of our times together. It was a crazy time though. In addition to working at Starbucks, I was finishing my courses at PLU, and working at Echo Glen Childrens Center...sometimes graveyard or double shifts.

Upon finishing my studies and starting my teaching career at Eckstein Middle School...I met my first husband. It was a whirlwind of a romance and we were engaged within 4 months. Which works for some people but ultimately did not for us. In retrospect, one of the red flags is that I alienated myself from my roommates in the process and ultimately we were not friends any longer. If I want Brooklyn to learn anything from me is that friends, family, and relationships can mix! If you have to alienate one to make the other work...it's probably not a good thing. I know sometimes you just have to learn those lessons on your own, but they are hard lessons to learn. Your life should not be divided and you should not have to apologize to one for the other. It's so true that hindsight is 20/20.

Having worked next door to Red Mill Burger, we regularly exhanged lattes for burgers. I love this place! It was so awesome to experience them 10 years later...and they did not disappoint!
