Last month I traveled to Blythe, California to second shoot a wedding for KrisD. It was a near four hour drive to the wedding, so we had lots of time to discuss her vision for images. Not knowing what she may find in Blythe, she had visions of urban meets country gritty...a vintage car, an open field, an abandoned lot. We were short on time before the ceremony, so she sent me on my way to shoot the guys. I've shot plenty of weddings on my own, but it always makes me nervous to do it on my own for someone else. You, of course, do not want to disappoint the primary shooter.
On my way to shoot they guys, I passed by an abandoned house and thought of KrisD's requests. I met the guys and got the typical getting ready shots and portraits. I then told them my idea of the house and they thought I was crazy. Lucky for me, the groom had already experienced KrisD's style during their engagement session and assured them to trust me. Once they arrived and the groom Clay declared it a "Tombstone" shoot, they were all in. These are not your momma's portraits! That's for sure. They were so fun! The sky was an electric blue and it was a perfect 70 degrees in November. I love these images...
And what's an abandoned house without a fridge in the front yard. Add a little Coors Light, and you have a perfect combo.
And, of course, a couple of more traditional shots to make everyone happy (just in case)...
