{Inspired by} Tony Corbell & The Girls with the Glasses Show

Last night I attended the PPA Tour in Irvine and listened to two fabulous photographers present to a room full of eager learners (most of which have been shooting for less than 5 years, including myself). I was especially smitten by Tony Corbell's charm and sense of humor. He is an amazing photographer and has been since 1979. He really inspired me with his stories, his photos, and his words of wisdom. It was almost midnight by the time I got home and even later when I finally went to sleep because the wheels were turning and I could NOT turn off my mind to sleep. I thought I'd share just a few of his words that resonated with me...
  • Study the work of others.
  • Know your craft.
  • Create a purposeful mistake (experiment).
  • Mistakes often become trends when repeated.
  • Shut up & pull the trigger.
  • Be more observant. Pay attention.
  • Don't be afraid to turn off your flash & bump your ISO.
  • Play with light.
So, one thing I want to commit myself to is finding inspiration outside of the wedding & portrait industry (which make up only 14% of all photographers nationwide). I want to spend more time looking at magazines, photo books, advertisements, and finding inspiration from all creative artists. I want to commit to creating a unique experience for my clients and constantly improving my craft.

So, in the spirit of creative inspiration, I have to share with you the coolest song & video ever! I love Brooke White (her name too, of course). She was my fave during her season of American Idol. I listen to her music all the time. She is the kind of girl that I wished was my friend. So you might imagine how smitten I was by this adorable creation from The Girls with the Glasses Show...

What inspires you?
