The spirit of this project is keep it unplanned, unstaged, just 5 ordinary minutes. Of course, 5 minutes can be extraordinary, too, but I want to see the beauty in the mundane not 5 minutes of a portrait sitting.
And the truth is, time is going at a lightening speed and this little girl is no longer a pre-schooler but Kinder bound. There is something that just tugs at my heartstrings to capture these moments because I know they are fleeting. She is at a magical whimsical age...that I so hope is not changed by being a school aged child.
Brooklyn's aunt, who is a montessori teacher, got her this fairy dress up costume for one of her birthdays. She still loves it and calls it her "Fawn" costume (from Tinkerbell, of course). When I saw her twirling, leaping, and turning in the setting sun...I had to grab my camera for my first 5 Minute Project. And, actually, it only really lasted two minutes...but the images are priceless and I will forever remember this moment thanks to these photos. But more importantly, I'll remember her spirit for all the years to come! She did a costume change after this one and I can't wait to share it as my next installment of the the 5 Minute Project.
