52. See a show in New York (Completed 1/4/07)
Not only did I get to see a show in New York, I got to meet the cast, and have dinner with the lead Chad Doreck and his family afterwards (one of my current students is Chad's niece and were in NYC at the same time). I would love to meet the person that wrote the script and lyrics for Altar Boyz because it was brilliant. I've never laughed so hard in a live performance. Do you know that uncomfortable feeling when you laugh so hard and people start looking at you like you might sound obnoxious? Well, that was us (lucky I wasn't alone). It's the story of a Christian boy band on tour saving the souls of America. If you have a Christian or Catholic background and can appreciate a little pokin' fun at the church...ya gotta see it!

Red Cube
I love finding vibrant backdrops unexpectedly in the city for portraits. I came across this bright red sculpture on my recent vacation to New York City and couldn't resist a little photo shoot with my friends. This is Isamu Noguchi's "Red Cube", 1968, in front of the building at 140 Broadway. If you closely at the base, it's a wonder it's still standing.
