So today feels a little crazy because in one week I will be returning to my "other job"....teaching high school Spanish. I really got a taste for what it might be like being a fulltime wedding and portrait photographer this summer. I absolutely loved every minute this summer but there is definitely something to be said for a daily routine and work schedule. I think I actually might be more productive teaching and running my photography business than just doing photography. I get lost in reading blogs, perusing Facebook and Twitter, and just overall procrastinating when I have too much down time. This last week of summer will be spent mentally preparing myself for 175 new students and of course cramming in five more photo sessions before summers end. It's no different being a teacher than a student, I continue to get the first day jitters and crazy dreams in anticipation.

This past weekend was awesome! Despite the fact it was a 108 degrees* in Corona (serlously!), I shot a wedding with A Timeless Memory for the sweetest couple. I met these guys at The Ebell wedding last month and they complimented myself and second photographers on how nice we were. It was such a nice compliment but I wondered why wouldn't we be? Well, as it turned out, they needed a photographer at the last minute and called me up. I was honored for the invitation and replied "of course!" If you're looking for a videographer, these guys are a class act.
*Note to self: Wear suncreen.

I did some headshots last night with a LHS grad and they were awesome and so was she. Can't wait to share.

I met the coolest couple at last weeks OC SmugMug...Lindsay & Bobby Earle. We had an awesome conversation about travel, marraige, and kids. I shared my horrific labor story with Lindsay and Bobby chimed in that passing kidney stones is far worse than child labor. I had to refrain from punching him (HaHa...just kidding, but kinda serious). Well, he most recently posted on his blog that his count is in favor of kidney stones being worse than child labor. What do you think? My question for him is how long did that process last? Because I'm thinking I can endure some pain for a short period but I doubt it was the 36 hours I endured without an epidural.

So our little Brookie Brooks (thanks to Yvonne, our babysitter for the nickname) has become quite the little entertainer and face of many expressions. No joke, from the first weeks of her life she has been doing the "owl face" and we coined her as our "hoo girl". Well, it has only become more prominent as she has gotten older. Every time she puckers her lips and says "hoooo", her audience mimics her. So you know she is only being encouraged and reinforced. She serioulsy cracks me up and I never tire of the game she plays. She attracts all sorts of attention in public. Should I be worried?
So tonight I got a text from my friend Becky. It read as follows, with second image on right image attached...
Jon now says "look . . . Brooklyn" and then makes this face. So flippin adorable!!!!

The Avery family (that's my family, in case you didn't know) seems to be going through some tough times. If you have a prayer to give, we could use it. I have a sick uncle, a distraught middle schooler niece, and a brother that is going through some hard times. It breaks my heart and I wish I could be with all of them.
