{Brooklyn} My Little Helper

It's been a nice little break from photography this past couple of months (which is why there have been so many Brookie posts vs client images). My first wedding of the year is next week in San Francisco and I'm unbelievably excited for it. I have a little extra time to enjoy the city while I'm there so I can't wait to capture some personal shots too. I love to shoot city life!

So, on to the latest with Brookie. Today she is officially 2 years and 5 months old. She has become my little helper around the house. It's awesome! Even last night she said to me, "Mom, let's do the dishes." I probably would have just let them sit until today...but that little request motivated me to clean the kitchen with her help.

She loves to sit on the counter top while we're cooking or cleaning now. And she especially LOVES to help me make my coffee on weekend mornings.

She even scrubs floors! Cleaning is so much more fun with her help. :)

"Sheesh, all this cleaning, mom...it's hard work!" What's a girl to do?

Brookie took some serious interest in the oranges sitting out. Even to the point of taking a bite out of the peel....yuck! It was hilarious seeing her reaction to the taste of orange peel. She is never one to just try something new on her own, so I was shocked when she sunk her teeth into the orange. Now she'll probably never try one again.

Sometimes she's looks so thoughtful and I wonder what's going on in that imagination of hers. She often feels older than two to me. Her vocabulary, insight, and sense of humor seems to be beyond her years. But I'm her mom, so of course I think that!

This child does not skip a beat! Earlier this week she ran into my office with her monkey towel on after her bath and I asked her if she had her "monkey blank" on (blank is what she calls her blanket). She instantly replied "Nope. It's a towel, mom...not a blank." She is constantly correcting me. It's so entertaining the things that come out of her mouth. This is her with her "owl blank" that she cannot go to sleep without.

It was so cold last weekend. All she wanted to do was play outside and I was freezing my booty off!

She didn't seem to be phased...

We went to the Farmers Market on Sunday. She had a blast climbing this HUGE inflatable slide. I know it's inflatable but it still gave me a minor heart attack seeing her go up it. Their was another little girl there to encourage her. They were so cute together.
